DNA Verified Bari Seedling

A premium planting-material concept for Crown Agarwood Group, combining DNA-based species identification, genetic traceability, and verified seedling provenance to support the development of high-quality agarwood plantations in the Philippines.

The key is to distinguish between DNA – confirmed identity and proven agarwood performance: DNA sequencing can help identify the species and characterize genetic variation, but it does not, by itself, guarantee superior resin production, high oud-oil quality, or rapid resin formation.

Recommended verification standard

For commercial deployment, each batch of Bari seedlings should ideally have:

  • Species identity: DNA barcoding using suitable plant markers, interpreted by a qualified laboratory.
  • Genetic identity: A reference DNA profile for the selected mother tree or propagation line.
  • Seedling traceability: Unique batch and plant IDs linked to nursery records.
  • Performance validation: Field data on survival, growth, resin development, and wood or oil quality.
  • Regulatory documentation: Applicable permits and provenance records for collection, propagation, transport, and trade.
